In the Wizarding World (LOL JK, I totally mean the Harry Potter Fandom), July is considered Harry Potter Month. This isn’t a fact or anything; just something I came up with, considering that HP & JKR’s birthdays fall on the last day of July. Also, that all these books & movies came out in July of the previous years. 🙂
Chamber of Secrets – 2 July 1998 (UK)
Prisoner of Azkaban – 8 July 1999 (UK)
Goblet of Fire – 8 July 2000 (UK + US)
Half-Blood Prince – 16 July 2005 (UK + US)
Deathly Hallows – 21 July 2007 (UK + US)
Order of the Phoenix – 11 July 2007
Half Blood Prince – 15 July 2009
Deathly Hallows Part 2 – 11 July 2011
A friend of mine wrote a status on Facebook recently about how it’s July already, but this time, we don’t have any more Harry Potter books/movies to look forward to. Surprisingly, I wasn’t as sad as I hoped I would be when I read that status, just because I feel that Harry Potter is still pretty much alive. JKR was right when she said that Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home. I’ve recently taken to reading my Harry Potter books again, just finished with the Sorcerer’s Stone. I plan on reading all 7 and then proceed to watching all 8 movies, HOPEFULLY BEFORE THE MONTH ENDS. THAT and finishing up repairs for Hogwarts Philippines. It’s gonna be a long month for this fangirl. Hihi.

This blog is starting to grow some cobwebs! Sorry about that! But anyway, what better way to clean up than by posting about my favoritest topic in the whole entire universe?
So a lot of Potter-y things have happened the past few weeks. The most special being Hogwarts Philippines’ 10th Anniversary Ball held at AIM Conference Center in Makati last February 25, 2012. Yes, there’s an actual Harry Potter community in the Philippines. No, it’s not official. But yes, it’s still awesome and probably as official as official can ever get. 😉
I blogged about the hilarious happenings of that night over at my personal site. Head on over there to check it out!
Also, if you’re not already part of the family, get your butt to the forums and sign up to be sorted! You can also find us on Facebook: here (official fanpage) and here (group). Hope to see you around the castle! 😀
On to international Potter news — did you hear the one about J.K. Rowling not being a billionaire anymore? According to The Telegraph, J.K. went from being worth an estimated amount of $1 billion in 2011 to less than that this year, with the bulk of her assets (reportedly $160 million of it) going to charity and taxes.
Although this seems rather shocking, I honestly don’t think this matters to her, given that she didn’t even think Potter would be as successful as it is today. Plus, she gave the money to charity! What’s a couple million dollars if it’s for a good cause?
Let’s now move on to other Potter-y things we can expect in the future!
